Feel free to purchase store bought olive salad to save time. If you do not like olives, you can replace the olive salad with a tomato bruschetta.

We visited Naples, Italy in March, 2013, while they were preparing for the Easter holiday. This is my take on the Neapolitan recipe that they make for this holiday celebration. The Casatiello Pie is traditionally filled with salami and cheese and decorated with boiled eggs. The pie can be eaten hot or cold, and we were told that the Neapolitans enjoy this pie even more on Easter Monday (or Pasquetta). This recipe was inspired by a Ciao Italia recipe.

This stromboli recipe is very easy to make, and any combination of ingredients can be substituted, based on your preference. The pepperoni & cheese stromboli is usually the crowd favorite. I like to make this before people arrive because the aroma in the house is wonderful when they walk through the door. This recipe is best when served warm from the oven, with a side of marinara sauce.
